Bahlabelelelani - Why Do They Sing? Gender and Power in Contemporary Women's Songs

Join us for a discussion with Fulbright Scholar and Professor Nompumelelo Zondi. She is head of the Department of African Languages at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Her talk will focus on the nature of women’s contemporary songs in the rural community of Zwelibomvu, near Pinetown in KwaZulu-Natal.

Light refreshments will be provided.
