Add to Calendar 2023-04-01 19:30:00 2023-04-01 22:00:00 Pilipino Cultural Night University of the Pacific's Kilusan Pilipino presents the 26th annual Pilipino Cultural Night! Show 2 will be from 7:30 to 10:00 PM in the DUC Ballroom. PCN is an annual show led by KP students each spring semester, featuring a play written and directed by students, with cultural and modern/hip-hop dances and songs in between scenes. PCN serves to educate the community about Philippine culture and the Philippine-American experience, while also bringing students and family together to explore difficult and relevant topics in a safe space. This year's play is This Place is Ours. Here is the synopsis: Arnell “Boyboy” Tanglao-Tibayan loves and cherishes his family, especially when it comes to family heritage and heirlooms– such as the quaint little sari sari store that his Lolo Ernesto started when he immigrated to the United States. Since childhood, Arnell has helped his Tatay Benidict care for Lolo’s little store, and has grown to love it so much that he dreams to continue the store, rather than follow in his Nanay Celene’s footsteps by  attending college to pursue a more profitable career. However, there is only one person missing in their family: Lola Rosalinda. Lola’s absence pains Nanay to the point of denial, who copes by projecting her college and career expectations onto Arnell. Will Arnell’s dreams to preserve Lolo’s store be futile and impractical, as Nanay claims? Will Nanay find closure in her heart? Or will their differences break up the family entirely? Tickets for students are $8 pre-sale and $10 at the door, and tickets for all others are $10 pre-sale and $12 at the door.   America/Los_Angeles public
