The Pacific Institute for Cross-Cultural Training was established in 2004. It grew out of Pacific’s long-standing commitment to support international educational exchange, encourage appreciation of all forms of diversity, and contribute to greater intercultural understanding. For more than a quarter of a century, Pacific has offered superior cross-cultural training for Pacific study abroad participants and international students. The PICCT extends these kinds of training opportunities to the entire university.

The Institute, which is based in SIS, seeks to assist Pacific students, staff and faculty to explore ways to increase intercultural competency across the curriculum and to develop creative ways to acquire the knowledge and skills and put them into practice. PICCT draws on the resources of the Intercultural Communications Institute (our partner in the MA in Intercultural Relations program) to conduct needs assessments, offer train-the-trainer instruction, support faculty and staff development and create specialized training designs.
